Q. Tell us about your background.
A. I have worked with TUCO for just over eight years where I have seen exciting changes as it continues to grow. I have previously worked in public sector procurement in various roles, and in the MOD purchasing uniforms, motorised gliders, aircraft servicing, ammunition and spares for AS90 and light guns. I took a career break to accompany my husband to a post in Namibia, which was a great opportunity to experience a fascinating part of the world.
Q. What are the benefits of buying from the TUCO frameworks?
A. TUCO might carry out the tendering process but we involve TUCO members through the process as part of the Tender Working Party. Around £140m is spent through the frameworks, which are compliant with EU regulations. TUCO manages the prices, and checks supplier accreditations. We hold annual review meetings and are using NetPositive to manage sustainability through the supply chain.
Q. What tip do you have for members on choosing a framework Supplier?
A. Engage with TUCO! TUCO regional meetings are a great way of networking out which suppliers they are using and the relationship they have. The Category managers are always keen to hear from members and assist in any way they can.
Q. What are the processes for suppliers to get on a TUCO framework?
- All TUCO suppliers have been successful following an EU tender process. It is the supplier’s responsibility to look out for tender adverts. We use the electronic tendering system 'In-Tend'. Suppliers can register for this by visiting in-tendhost.co.uk/tuco/aspx/home
