Matt was appointed Director of TUCO in October 2011, and was made Chair of the TUCO board in September 2016. He is the driving public face of TUCO and responsible for Board management and company duties. Matt is Director of Campus Commerce, Head of Function at The University of Reading.

Phil became the Vice-Chair of the TUCO board in September 2016, he joined the university sector in 2003 with over 24 years’ experience in the catering, hospitality and retail sector. As Director of Commercial Services, he is responsible for the commercially run units of Campus Services at the University of Cardiff. In 2014, Phil joined the Board to lead on Governance and assist in determining a research strategy.

Alan joined the University sector in 2011 after spending over 25 years working for various catering contract companies and in various operational positions, latterly as an Regional Business Manager and Exec board member. Alan is currently Deputy Director, Residential and Business Services, at the University of St Andrews where his role includes responsibility for student dining in their Nine catered halls, as well as all the retail and hospitality operations.

Amanda joined the Board in 2015 with areas of responsibility within Marketing and Communications. Amanda has a wealth of experience within the catering industry including work within contract catering, hotels, sport and the education sectors. Her current role is Operations Manager for University of Wolverhampton, covering all aspects of the catering, retail and conferencing operations across 4 campuses.

David joined the TUCO Board in 2015, bringing with him 16 years of catering experience and an admirable food safety knowledge. Within TUCO, David’s remit is sustainability and he has also  headed up the catering at Harper Adams University for seven years. In 2012, David received a Sustainable Business Catey Award.  

Gavin Brown

Gavin is the CEO of The Leicester Services Partnership, which is a joint venture between the University of Leicester and the Students’ Union which provides the catering and retail services.  Gavin brings a wealth of knowledge and management experience to the TUCO Board. Gavin has achieved much success within the Hotel and Catering Sector, including over 25 years’ experience working directly within the HE sector. With a keen interest in craft skills and Innovation, Gavin aims to focus on how TUCO can help develop and share best practice from its member’ institutions; drawing on member expertise and the wider industry to look at new and improved ways of working.

With some 25 years industry experience at senior level, of which the last 10 years have been in the Higher Education sector, Calum adds breadth to the depth and wealth of expertise already present. Head of Commercial Services for the University of Aberdeen, Calum enjoys the support of a varied and successful team of Estates & Facilities Services colleagues.  Possessing a drive for constant improvement and a skill to identify and develop opportunities, Calum will look to effectively support TUCO and its members in augmenting existing services, creating new opportunities, developing people and adding value.

Ian is the Executive Director and Domestic Bursar at the University of Chester where he has gained 32 years of experience working directly within the HE sector. Ian has a keen interest in Sustainability and strives to promote this in his departments and the wider university. Having achieved much success within the Hospitality and Catering Sector Ian is bringing a wealth of knowledge and management experience to the TUCO Board. Drawing on member expertise and the wider industry, Ian aims to focus on how TUCO can develop and share best practice by looking at new and improved ways of working. 

Kelly Hart

Kelly Hart is the Campus Food and Drink Manager at Queen's University Belfast and is the newest recruit to the TUCO board. With almost 20 years' experience in the Public, Private and Higher Education sectors, Kelly has a wealth of knowledge and management experience to bring to the Board. Within her current role at Queen's University, Kelly focuses on innovation and delivering excellence in customer care. She has a varied remit over multiple sites, including operations, compliance and contract management of third parties.
