The TUCO Winter Conference is a free annual event that gives TUCO members the opportunity to get together before Christmas to pick up some valuable insight ready to implement in the New Year. Each year features content from experts within the hospitality industry discussing practical tips to gain a competitive edge in the market, through to thought-provoking sessions on key issues.

The theme of the 2019 Winter Conference is 'Sustainable Success'. Key speakers from across the industry will discuss various hot topics within sustainability in higher and further education, such as coffee cups, plastic, CSR, environmental and social impact, plant-based cuisine, and reusing food waste. 

All documents such as programmes or brochures will be available as PDFs/online throughout the Conference, as opposed to hard-copy printed material.

Following the Conference, you have the option to attend a Cardiff Study Tour where you will explore the Winter Conference sustainability topic further by visiting restaurants and sites in and around Cardiff who subscribe to this topic, to experience a warm Welsh welcome and immerse yourselves in some great regional food experiences. The study tour will commence on the evening of the 4th December, immediately following the Winter Conference.

Itinerary:

Tuesday 3rd December: Drinks Reception and Dinner at Cardiff Castle (Cardiff Castle Library for Drinks Reception / Cardiff Castle Banqueting Room for Dinner), followed by post-dinner drinks

Wednesday 4th December: Conference 

Wednesday 4th December - Friday 6th December: Cardiff Study Tour

Accommodation is available at cost at Holiday Inn, Cardiff (4*). Please select at time of booking.

The Winter Conference will be as paperless as possible. All material and important information will be available on an app, Whova, which you should download prior to the Conference. The app will allow you to; view the agenda, view speaker information, post comments/questions to the speakers, connect with other attendees, and view the menu for the dinner. You will also be able to let other attendees know what time you arrive at the airport or station, so you can share a taxi to the University.   • I can’t see a particular course/training, can you run it?

    If you are interested in receiving training that is not already offered by TUCO Academy, pop us an email or give us a call and we will see if we can source it for you. By going through TUCO Academy you will be able to purchase the training at a subsidised rate and if you can offer the training to other members it will reduce the cost further.

  • Can I request a course or development day be held at my organisation?

    The TUCO Academy has worked hard to offer all training at a subsidised price, agreeing reduced corporate contract rates with hotels etc. - yet still understands the benefits of in-house training. To that end, working alongside the professional trainers, TUCO Academy can arrange for events to be held at your own institution, for no extra cost.

  • Who can use the training with TUCO Academy?

    All professional development events are available for ANY staff in institutions who are members of TUCO, not just employees in the hospitality, catering and commercial services department.

  • How do I pay for my professional development event?

    You can opt to pay by credit card on the booking form directly or select to pay by invoice. If you need to submit a purchase order this can be entered in the booking form.
