The numbers are in, and when it comes to competing with the high street you might be hardest pressed in Manchester, which has the most restaurants and takeaways in the UK. Equally, if you're based in Wolverhampton you're not off the hook, as research has found Wulfrunians to have the lowest average takeaway cost in the UK, at just £5.94.
The new research, undertaken by Just Eat, looked at the number of takeaways and restaurants in the UK and calculated the number per 10,000 of the population, to reveal the UK towns with the most restaurants and takeaways in the UK.
Manchester comes out on top as the city with the most restaurants and takeaways. With a total count of 5,177 across the entire city, when calculated per 10,000 of the city's population, it comes to 120 restaurants and takeaways.
Nottingham is the UK city with the second-most amount of takeaways and restaurants. Overall, the city has 2,268 takeaways and restaurants, this number decreases to 80 when calculated per 10,000 of the population.
Liverpool's total count for takeaways and restaurants stands at 3,385. When calculated against the city's population, Liverpool has 72 such establishments per 10,000 people.
