Our History
Sir Alec Reed founded Reed Specialist Recruitment in 1960 and it continues to be a family owned business with Alec’s son, James, now as Group Chairman. Reed has grown organically over the last 61 years to become the UK’s largest, and most recognised, privately owned recruitment business. Outside of the UK, Reed currently has offices in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, South Korea, Malta, Poland and Turkey.
We are a leading provider of staffing and resourcing solutions through our nationwide branch network of specialist recruitment divisions, and through Reed Screening, which provides the full range of compliance and vetting services.
Reed Specialist Recruitment is supported by sister companies which are both market leaders in their own right. Reed Online is a leading provider in the field of candidate attraction and online job board advertising (reed.co.uk), and Reed in Partnership is a leading welfare to work provider.
