Meat free innovator, Quorn®, recently worked with Sheffield University to build meat free options into their menus around campus.

Quorn spoke to Kay Coleman, team leader at The Diamond Kitchen, one of the outlets on site serving Quorn. The Diamond Kitchen is situated in the Diamond Building, home to the faculty of engineering. Its menu offers a delicious array of international flavours with a fantastic grab-and-go offer, complemented by a sleek and stylish design.

3. What Quorn products do you serve (and in what dishes)?

Quorn Swedish Style Balls & Chicken Style Pieces are used in our range of vegetarian Asian-themed dishes in dishes like Coconut Chilli Quorn Meatballs, Quorn Rogan Josh and Sri Lankan Style Quorn.

We also use the Quorn Cumberland sausage as a vegetarian alternative in our breakfast sandwich offers.

4. What's important to you when it comes to creating meat free dishes?

First and foremost, our main aim when creating any new dish is that it tastes good!

At The Diamond Kitchen, we offer a range of hot dishes inspired by exotic flavours. From stir fries and curries to flatbreads and burgers.

When it comes to meat free specifically, we want to try and introduce new dishes to meat eaters and expand on the options for flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans to enjoy.

Quorn is a really versatile ingredient that makes it easy for us to adapt existing recipes that would typically contain meat. The taste and texture is close to meat too which makes it easier for our customers to enjoy without having to feel like they’re compromising on their usual choices.

5. What's your most popular meat free dish?

Coconut Chilli Quorn Meatballs, our customers can’t believe it’s not meat!
